Ajrakh Handblock

About the Craft

The Eternal Print of Kutch
Ajrakh is one of India’s oldest and most enduring printing traditions. Practiced for centuries by the Khatri community of Kutch, it represents a continuous legacy of skill, discipline, and design passed down through generations.
The craft is defined by its detailed block work, deep indigo and madder shades, and balanced geometric motifs. Each piece is made through a multi-stage process of washing, printing, and dyeing, repeated over several days to achieve its characteristic depth and precision.
Rooted in history yet relevant today, Ajrakh continues to reflect the spirit of Indian craftsmanship
